Pianist Inon Barnatan

Episode Summary

Pianist Inon Barnatan returns to Heinz Hall the weekend of October 23, 2026 with three performances including one at Indiana University of Pennsylvania playing the Beethoven Second Piano Concerto. He spoke with Jim Cunningham in his dressing room about the delights of the concerto and how much he enjoys working with Karina Canellakis who is making her debut with this program. Barnatan talked about his chamber music festival north of San Diego in La Jolla, California and the new 500-seat Hall which he considers one of the best in the world. What restaurant does he like in La Jolla? It's a great fresh fish spot, El Pescador. Barnatan has recorded the five piano concertos with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and Alan Gilbert along with the Triple Concerto and his Rachmaninoff Reflections CD brings to listeners his transcription of the Rachmaninoff Symphonic Dances. All that and he loves to listen to the radio.
